Bob's 27
DartsPractice doubles — or lose your points.
Game Rules: Bob's 27 (Darts)
Game Identity
- Name: Bob's 27
- Player Count: 1–8 players (primarily a solo practice game; can be played competitively).
- Teams: No teams.
- Theme: High-skill darts practice game focused entirely on doubles. Starts at 27 points. Hitting a double adds double its value; missing deducts double its value. Survive all 20 doubles.
Scoring Mechanics
- Scoring Variant: Special — starts at 27. Score changes based on hitting or missing each double in sequence.
- Target Score: No win condition — highest score after all 20 rounds is the goal. Score going to 0 or below ends the game early.
- Unit of Scoring: Points added (hit) or subtracted (miss) per double attempt.
- Lower vs. Higher: Higher score after 20 rounds wins. Surviving all 20 is itself an achievement.
Rules & Validation
Setup
- Each player starts with 27 points.
- The game proceeds through 20 rounds, one per double (Double 1 through Double 20).
Per-Round Logic
- Target: The current double (D1 in Round 1, D2 in Round 2, …D20 in Round 20).
- Each player throws 3 darts per round.
- Hit: Each dart that lands in the double scores double that number (e.g., D6 hit = +12 per dart hitting it).
- Miss: If no darts hit the double, the player's score is reduced by double the number (e.g., miss D6 = −12).
- Elimination: If the player's score drops to 0 or below, they are out of the game (for competitive play; in solo play, continue as a record).
Validation Rules
- Starting score: 27.
- Per-round result: +D×n (hit, where n = number of darts hitting the double), or −D×2 (miss).
- Score can become negative in solo mode.
Special Actions / Bonuses
- Ton-40 Start (optional): Some variants start at 40 instead of 27 to make survival slightly more forgiving.
- Perfect Game: Hitting all 3 darts in each double every round yields an exceptional high score (theoretical max: 27 + 2(1+2+3+4+…+20)×3 = 27 + 1,230 = 1,257).
Win Conditions
- Solo: Goal is to survive all 20 rounds (score remains above 0) and record the highest final score.
- Competitive: After all 20 rounds, player with the highest remaining score wins.
- Tie-Breaker: If tied after all 20 rounds, compare scores at each round from 20 backward. First difference wins.
